russia has cancelled the international airshow MAKS for the first time in 30 years due to safety concerns following drone attacks.
This is reported by British Intelligence.
MAKS is an international airshow that takes place every two years in the moscow suburbs. Traditionally, it showcases russia's civil and military aerospace sector, trying to attract export clients.
The British Ministry of Defence notes that the war against Ukraine has greatly affected the development and operation of russia's aerospace community.
"The show has probably been cancelled largely due to genuine security concerns, following recent uncrewed aerial vehicle attacks inside russia. Organisers were highly likely also aware of the potential for reputational damage if fewer international delegations attended," they pointed out.
Meanwhile, the commander of the Air and Space Forces, General Sergei Surovikin, has not appeared in public following the failed mutiny of the Wagner group, for which he was the contact point at the russian Ministry of Defence.
