Ukrenergo reports increased electricity consumption in Ukraine due to intense heat
Consumption has been rising throughout the week with the increase in air temperature

Due to the rise in temperature in Ukraine, electricity consumption is increasing: on 3 August, peak consumption was 4% higher than the same indicators on 2 August.
This is reported by NPC Ukrenergo.
"Consumption has been growing throughout the week with the increase in air temperature. The highest in 4 working days was yesterday, on Thursday," the statement reads.
Compared to 2 August, yesterday's peak consumption was 4% larger.
"For the power system, this is the capacity of several thermal power units that need to be additionally switched on. These are the most difficult hours for the power system, since due to extensive repairs at many power stations, the ability to engage additional capacity is significantly limited," the company noted.
Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly, as this will reduce the load on the power system and give time for power units to complete necessary repairs. According to the company's statement, extensive repairs are underway at many thermal power stations, and scheduled repairs continue at some nuclear power units. This significantly limits the ability to meet consumption, which significantly increases in the evening hours.
Today, electricity is being imported from Slovakia from 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with a capacity of up to 344 MW, as well as from Moldova – from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. with a capacity of up to 10 MW. There is no export of electricity.
