Maliar: russians are pretending to retreat on purpose to identify pro-Ukrainian residents
She called on residents in the occupied territories to exercise maximum caution

In the districts of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine occupied by russian troops, the enemy forces are pretending to retreat in order to find out about the mood of the local population. The purpose of such actions is to identify people with pro-Ukrainian views.
Source. This was reported on Tuesday, 8 August, by Deputy Defence Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar on Telegram.
In Kakhovka, as well as in other russian-controlled areas of Kherson Oblast, false rumors were deliberately spread about the withdrawal of the aggressor's troops, and these actions were staged by moving military equipment to another location.
At the same time, enemy agents provoked civilians to speak freely about the russians, and then passed information about people who assisted Ukraine to the so-called law enforcement agencies of the occupier," Hanna Maliar said in a statement.
The western part of Kherson Oblast, located on the right (western) bank of the Dnieper River, including Kherson, has been controlled by the Ukrainian side since November 2022.
The lands on the eastern side of the river, including Kakhovka, are currently under russian occupation.
Background. To recap, the Washington Post reported that Ukraine had deployed reserves for a main offensive in the Robotyne area.
