Zelenskyy: If Russia is allowed to regain strength, it will be able to attack other countries by 2028

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has delivered a speech to the participants of the informal summit of the European political community in Granada, Spain. He expressed confidence that the United States would continue to support Ukraine and warned against any attempts to "freeze" the conflict.

Source. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

"Russia is currently considering various scenarios for the coming years. One of them is particularly dangerous. If there is any pause in this aggression against Ukraine, any freezing of the situation, there will be a new critical moment," the Ukrainian president said.

He suggested that such a critical moment could come in 2028, when Russia will be able to restore its military potential lost during the war against Ukraine.

"If Russia is allowed to adapt now, then by 2028 the Kremlin will be able to restore the military potential we have destroyed, and Russia will have enough strength to attack the countries that are in the focus of Russian expansion. In addition to Ukraine, these are definitely the Baltic states and those countries where Russian contingents are present. This is clear information from our intelligence. We are signaling this to you," Zelenskyy said, addressing more than 40 European leaders gathered at the forum.

He also said that he had no doubt that the United States would continue to help Ukraine.

"I am confident in America. I am confident. It has strong people, a strong community, strong institutions, strong energy of democracy. I was recently in Washington, DC. I spoke with President Biden. I spoke with congressmen from both parties, both houses. They absolutely support the defense of freedom and understand that Russia and other enemies of our way of life want to take advantage of the consequences of political storms," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

His words were a response to the reduction of U.S. military aid and the fears expressed by many about its provision in the future.

"A difficult pre-election period for the United States, different voices, some voices are very strange. We will talk about this today," Zelenskyy said, speaking to journalists in Granada.

He also called for the solidarity of Ukraine's European partners.

"And we in Europe must be ready. America helped us, helped Europe survive. And now it is important for Europe not to hide its sails from the wind, trying to wait out the storm, but to be together in this turbulent time – to work together, to protect our values and our common space of freedom with the United States," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Shortly before that, European diplomat Josep Borrell, who also attended the Granada summit, said that the EU would not be able to compensate for US aid if it was cut off and urged Washington to make the necessary decisions as soon as possible.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the unity and solidarity of the whole of Europe must be firm: "Putin must not be allowed to destabilize any other parts of the world and our partners in order to destroy the strength of Europe. We must continue to put pressure with sanctions, politically and economically, so that Russia cannot spread chaos," Zelenskyy said. – "We must work together to push Russia out of other countries.

"Let Putin's ambitions become a ruin, not our countries, not our cities," he said.

Background. It also became known that Turkey will organize an international meeting on Ukraine without Russian participation in late October.
