Zelensky: Air defense coalition led by France and Germany created at Ramstein meeting

An air defense coalition has been created at a meeting in the Ramstein format on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message.

"There are new packages of Ukraine's support for our soldiers. This applies to shells, missiles, electronic warfare, drones, and new capacities for our air defense. A coalition has been created, the Air Defense Development Coalition. Its leaders are Germany and France," Zelenskyy said.

"I am grateful for such leadership. I am grateful to every country that is involved in these efforts, in enabling our cities and villages to be more protected from Russian strikes. Not everything can be said publicly yet, but Ukraine's air shield is getting stronger literally every month," the President noted.

"In the near future, I expect a report from Defense Minister Umerov on the results of this Ramstein," he also said.

Earlier, Rustem Umerov said at the opening of the 17th meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format that according to the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has lost almost 36 thousand of its soldiers since the last Ramstein.

He emphasized that the weapons provided by partners – in particular, HIMARS systems, Storm Shadow, SCALP, ATACMS missiles, Abrams, Challenger, and Leopard tanks – have changed the situation at the front. Further development of coalitions of capabilities – in particular, those related to artillery, armor, aviation, navy, IT and demining – "will help Ukraine, together with its partners, protect millions of innocent lives."

The 17th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in the Ramstein format is attended by defense ministers from more than 50 countries.
