The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said on Wednesday (6 March) that he had a "tense conversation" with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi about the situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
In Sochi, Grossi also spoke with the head of the Russian nuclear energy company Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, and met with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
After the meeting, the IAEA chief said that the talks were "tense".
In turn, the Kremlin wrote in a brief statement that Putin "is ready to do everything to ensure security where we are involved in nuclear energy".
AP reminds that before leaving for Russia, Grossi said in Vienna that he believed it was important to maintain a dialogue with both sides and added that the situation in Zaporizhzhia was "still very unstable".
Background. As reported, there are no more Ukrainian personnel at ZNPP. Now there are Russian personnel at ZNPP, but they cannot operate the plant reliably.
