The owner of Monobank is fundraising money for nuclear weapons - 24 million hryvnias were raised in a day
Horohovsky later explained that, of course, it was a joke, and the money raised will be transferred to drones

The co-owner of Monobank, businessman Oleg Horohovsky, announced the fundraising of money "for a nuclear weapon" and opened an account with that title.
This happened after a scandal in the White House during the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, the BBC reports.
Zelensky deserves respect, the businessman commented on the outcome of the negotiations.
"By the way, no one can say that our President, finding himself in this situation, did not defend the interests of Ukraine. And this deserves respect and support," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
After that, Horohovsky announced the fundraising of money "for a nuclear weapon" and added a link to the account.
“There are many requests to start a fundraiser for the Nuclear Weapons,” he explained.
This fundraiser began to fill up actively. In 10 hours, 10 million hryvnias were donated “for the Nuclear Weapons.”
The owner of Monobank cited statistics that as for now about 70,000 participants from 61 countries had contributed money. After Ukraine, the largest number of donors came from the United States, followed by Poland.
As of 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, about 23 million hryvnias had been collected.
In a comment to BBC Ukraine, Gorokhovsky explained that the fundraiser for the “Nuclear Weapons” was a joke to “let off steam” after a hard day. He does not believe that anyone seriously donated specifically for nuclear weapons.
“It was a joke. Sorry if I disappointed many people... I don’t understand how this money that will be collected can be used for nuclear weapons, and I didn’t plan to do that,” he said.
According to him, the fundraising will last only 24 hours, and then the money will be transferred to volunteers to purchase drones or humanitarian needs for the frontline.
"I made this account in a minute, quickly shared it and this madness began... But all this shows very well how sensitive this topic is for Ukraine. It shows how painful it is for Ukrainians, what is happening," the banker noted.
He does not rule out that in the future he will join in financing nuclear developments, if the authorities raise this issue.
