Ihor Kushnir

Vice President of the Construction Chamber of Ukraine, member of the Board of Directors of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine. Before - President of the Kyivmiskbud company (2012-2024).

Ihor Kushnir is a Ukrainian entrepreneur. He is a former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and former President of the Kyivmiskbud company. Ñurrently serves as Vice President of the Construction Chamber of Ukraine and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine. He holds a Doctorate in Law.

Life and career

Born June 14, 1971, in Chernivtsi, Kushnir graduated from the Kryukiv Mechanical Engineering College in 1990 and subsequently completed his compulsory military service. He later obtained degrees in mechanical engineering and business economics at the Kremenchuk Polytechnic University. In 2013, he defended his PhD thesis in law, and in 2019 earned a Doctor of Law degree specializing in administrative law and procedure.

Since 1997, he served as CEO of P.K.R. Kremenchuk Oil Company LLC and later, in the early 2000s, led the MiS company. In 2008, he became Deputy CEO of the Zhytloinvest company.

For eight years he served as a deputy of the Kremenchuk City Council.

· 2010 to 2012 he held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

· 2012 to 2023, he headed Kyivmiskbud holding company.

In 2023, the company faced a public scandal that led to a series of inspections and audits. Due to economic difficulties that arose against the backdrop of the COVID-19 quarantine, and later the full-scale war invasion, Kyivmiskbud experienced challenges with financing and completing residential developments.

The audits concluded that the company’s difficulties were the result of the broader economic crisis, as well as the so-called "Ukrbud factor"- the company was obliged to complete the construction of its residential complexes. As for the actions of the management, which were criticized in a number of journalistic materials, they were recognized as lawful and compliant.

In December 2023, Ihor Kushnir voluntarily stepped down as President of Kyivmiskbud.

Since 2016, Kushnir was listed for three consecutive years among Ukraine’s top executives and was recognized as the best-performing leader among real estate development companies.

Private life

Married with two children.

Hobby: mountaining.

1989 – first ascent, Mount Kazbek. Since then, he has conquered over 20 peaks, including:

• eight-thousanders: Everest, Lhotse, Manaslu, Cho Oyu;

• seven-thousanders: Lenin Peak, Korzhenevskaya Peak, Khan Tengri;

• "Seven Summits" program: Elbrus, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Mont Blanc;

• others: Ozodi Peak, Abu Ali ibn Sina Peak.

In May 2023, Ihor and his wife Oksana successfully summited Mount Everest, becoming the first Ukrainian couple to conquer the world’s highest peak.
