What happened? Radiation levels in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant are “abnormal” after russian troops had seized the area.
Source. This was stated by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi.
Details. Today, on April 26, on the anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, an IAEA expert mission led by Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi arrived at the Chernobyl NPP to deliver vital equipment and conduct radiological and other assessments of the station, which had been under russian control for five weeks before the retreat of russian troops on March 31.
Other additional IAEA missions to this and other nuclear facilities in Ukraine will also take place in the coming weeks.
Previously. On April 1, according to data published by the Military Medical Service of the russian federation, the first death of a russian serviceman was recorded in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone because of radiation sickness.
