The United States and its allies are going to defeat russia “as decisively as possible” to deter it from re-attacking
World leaders see the solution to this problem in Ukraine's victory

What happened? The United States and its allies have begun to talk about a new, longer-term goal of war: to defeat russia so decisively on the battlefield as to keep it from re-attacking, as invading Ukraine has turned into a grueling war without any serious peace agreement.
Source. This was reported by CNN.
Details. It is noted that such a message had been most clearly expressed on Monday by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin after his visit to the Ukrainian capital: “We want to see russia weakened to the degree that it can't do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.”
A spokesman for the National Security Council said Austin's comments corresponded with what the US' goals have been for months. Namely, “to make this invasion a strategic failure for russia.”
“We want Ukraine to win. One of our goals has been to limit Russia's ability to do something like this again,” the Secretary of State Austin said.
“That's why we are arming the Ukrainians with weapons and equipment to defend themselves from russian attacks, and it's why we are using sanctions and export controls that are directly targeted at russia's defense industry to undercut russia's economic and military power to threaten and attack its neighbors.”
Earlier the United States used to be cautiously optimistic that a negotiated settlement could be reached, and did not explicitly state its goal of defeating russia and deterring it in the long run militarily perspective.
However, one Eastern European official told CNN that “the only solution to this problem is Ukraine's victory.”
The shift in strategy has taken place over the past few weeks, this is evidenced by the increased risk tolerance of giving complicated Western weapons to Ukraine. World leaders have realized that putin's goals in Ukraine will not end even if he manages to seize the part of the country.
Previously. It was informed that the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin believes that the situation around Ukraine will not escalate into a nuclear conflict.
