“The Transnistrian conflict is another problem we face. We are still giving preference to a peaceful solution to this conflict, which will fully preserve the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and territorial integrity within our internationally recognized borders,” Sandu said.
She noted that Moldova will adhere to the principle of neutrality in any case, but in order to be a truly neutral state, russia must withdraw its Operational Group from the territory of the republic.
“russia's presence in the Transnistrian region radically violates our neutrality and our independence,” she added.
Sandu summed up that granting EU candidate status could be a clear signal that the country is moving in the right direction.
