Azov fighters after returning from captivity: “No international organisations documented our testimonies”

What happened? Fighters of the Azov regiment, who were freed from russian captivity, reported that the russians did not allow any international organisations to visit them, and no one documented their testimonies.

Comments. “For some reason, no agencies cared about us, except the SSU,” the fighters claim.

They assure that during their stay in captivity they did not see a single representative of the Red Cross, although the employees of the organisation at one time claimed that they were monitoring the living conditions in russian detention.

“Actually, they are just not allowed to see the prisoners of war, that's why the russians can use any kind of torture on the prisoners,” the Azov fighters point out.

“We were reiterated that no one needed us, that they had forgotten about us and were not going to exchange us,” say the regiment's fighters, adding that the interrogations were accompanied by tortures, threats of execution and physical violence.

Defenders of Azovstal emphasise that all the questions were extremely provocative: the russians did not ask “Did you see who shot at civilians?”, but said “Why did you shoot at civilians?”.

“The enemies wanted us to confess to the murders of the civilian population, although we, on the contrary, tried to protect it,” the Azov fighters assure.
