Army of Drones has already collected UAH 1 billion for drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
For this amount, 877 devices that will work on the front line have already been contracted
What happened? The Army of Drones project developed by the United24 platform has already collected UAH 1 billion for the purchase of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Source. Yuriy Shchygol, the head of the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine, in an interview with Mind.
Details. The organisers of the fundraising have already managed to contract 877 drones worth UAH 948 million. Among them, Chinese-made drones predominate – there are 432 devices of two companies. In second place are American Autel evo 2 – 200 pieces were purchased.
Among the suppliers there are 3 Ukrainian firms that will provide the army with 2 Ukrjet, 3 Skyeton and 80 Skif UAVs. In addition, Polish enterprises also provided their assistance – the AFU will receive 20 Fly Eye and 40 Warmate devices.
Shchygol reported that the list of suppliers is actually larger, however, in order not to give the enemy the opportunity to disrupt the purchase process, the organisers do not make the names of the manufacturers public so far. It is only known that they are negotiating and testing the proposed drones.
In addition, United24 received over 100 drones from ordinary people. Citizens of Ukraine, Poland, the USA and Germany participated most actively.
These drones will be piloted by graduates of the Army of Drones who have completed a five-day training. As of the end of August, there were already 735 of them. The lack of pilots is, however, as urgent problem as the lack of drones, since only a military person can operate a drone.
Background. Mind reported that Ukraine had already received 100 drones within the Army of Drones project. However, according to the assessment of the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, about 10,000 of them are needed in total.
