The occupiers provoked an environmental disaster at the ZNPP

What happened? The occupiers provoked an environmental disaster at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Source. Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company.

Details. It is noted that the russians are destroying an important ecological component of the plant's operation – due to the shutdown of the station's power units, warm water does not get into the cooling pond of the ZNPP. Currently, the water temperature has dropped to about 13 degrees above zero.

The change in temperature led to a mass die-off of fish in the pond. Fish perform a sanitary function, ensuring the cleanliness of the cooling tubes of the turbine condenser. Due to the actions of the occupiers, there is a risk that about 1,000 tons of dead fish will be washed up ashore.
