Occupiers committed ecocide at one of the largest poultry farms in Kherson Oblast – prosecutor's office
The vast majority of chickens died at the enterprise, which had more than 4 million of them before the invasion

What happened? In March 2022, one of the largest and most modern local poultry farms near Kherson was left without electricity supply due to a massive russian shelling of settlements in Kherson Oblast. As a result of the inability of workers to feed the birds and maintain sanitary conditions, the vast majority of chickens died.
Source. Kherson Oblast Prosecutor's Office.
Details. Before the full-scale invasion, the enterprise had more than 4 million chickens.
The prosecutor's office incriminates the actions of russian forces as ecocide. Given that the actions of representatives of the aggressor country could have caused bacterial contamination of a large area, law enforcement officers conducted investigative actions at the enterprise.
During the inspection on the territory of the poultry farm, they found the place of burial of the dead birds – a pit about 3 metres deep with an area of 1880 m².
