Details. The Ministry emphasises that the occupiers seek to capture Soledar in order to surround Bakhmut and disrupt Ukrainian supply and communication routes.
At the same time, the department notes that part of the fighting has focused on entrances to the salt mine tunnels. According to the Ministry, they can be used to get behind enemy lines.
"Despite the increased pressure on Bakhmut, russia is unlikely to envelop the town imminently because Ukrainian forces maintain stable defensive lines in depth and control over supply routes," the Ministry comments.
Along with this, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the repulsion of russian attacks near Soledar and other settlements of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in the morning of January 10.
