Ministry of Agrarian Policy: over 1 million hectares of land mined in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts
This year, 200 to 300 thousand hectares of land on the contact line will not be put into cultivation

More than 1 million hectares of agricultural land have been mined in Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts.
This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
"They can be divided into two types. The first is where the front line was, where there are 80%-90% of the mined areas. The second is in the rear, where the percentage is lower. As for the latter, there is a plan to sow them in time. Unfortunately, the 200 to 300 thousand hectares that were on the contact line will not be put into cultivation this year," says Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
According to him, farmers are preparing to sow the areas that could not be sold for winter crops in the spring, in particular due to unfavourable weather conditions.
"We are currently seeing a decline in international prices for mineral fertilisers. This is a factor that should also help us catch up with the areas that were not sown in the autumn. We have to reach at least the areas that were sown in 2022," says Mr. Vysotskyi.
Background. As a reminder, Ukraine has become the most mined country in the world. The United States is to provide Ukraine with $90 million to help demine the territories.
