Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson has announced a decision to transfer eight Archer self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces suppress Russian artillery.

Source. This was reported by the Swedish national news agency TT Nyhetsbyrån, BBC reports.

"We can say that the Archer system is more of a sniper rifle than a shotgun. It is the ability to hit enemy artillery systems deep in the rear that makes the Archer unique," Jonson said.

The Armed Forces are to receive the first units in a few months.

In addition, in the amendments to the defense budget adopted on Thursday, the Swedish government requested that 10 Leopard tanks be sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Currently, the Swedish army has 24 Archer self-propelled artillery systems in service, and 48 more are in storage.

Background. As it has become known today, Germany has handed over another military aid package to Ukraine, which includes mostly shells and ammunition.
