In particular, the new aid package includes:
- 5000 artillery shells of 155 mm caliber
- ammunition for the MARS II multiple launch rocket system
- 25 generators
- 4 mobile antenna-mast systems
- 500 SFP9 pistols
- 2 hangar tents
- 2 forklifts.
Germany is also preparing to provide Ukraine with another 5,330 155 mm caliber shells and missiles for the Iris-T SLM.
Earlier in the day, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned that it was extremely important to provide Ukraine with new ammunition as soon as possible to counter Russia's invasion.
During a speech in the Bundestag in early March, he said that in the coming weeks Ukraine would receive Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems and the IRIS-T air defense system.
As a reminder, in November 2022, it was reported that Germany had supplied Ukraine with 30 Gepard anti-aircraft systems. And in February of this year, it became known that Germany was transferring two more Gepard anti-aircraft systems and 6,000 rounds of ammunition for these systems to Ukraine.
It also became known that Canada will transfer 8 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
