SBU detects and neutralises CPSU cells in Kyiv and 6 oblasts

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) identified and neutralised cells of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in Kyiv and 6 oblasts.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

After the outbreak of a full-scale war, the organisers of the association tried to create an extensive network of their own "regional committees". The "activists" were supposed to call for mass support for the occupiers and set up "commandant's offices" to collect intelligence and prepare enemy sabotage.

The investigation established that the pro–kremlin organisation was headed by Yuriy Shchipkov, Head of the Bolshevik Central Committee, which is located in moscow. On his instructions, underground branches of the association were created in Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, and Chernihiv oblasts.

The network involved more than 45 people who used their own homes for secret meetings. The members of the CPSU received instructions to carry out criminal acts directly from the head of the moscow Central Committee through a specially created anonymous Telegram channel.

Law enforcement officers emphasise that thanks to the SBU intervention, none of the plans of the so-called "Communist Party" were implemented. Instead, during the searches, the agents found russian passports, unregistered weapons, mobile phones with evidence of correspondence with the russian "curator", as well as pro-kremlin propaganda materials.
