Musk deprived NYT of blue Twitter verification checkmark
The same thing will happen to CNN and LA Times

Elon Musk has deprived the main Twitter account of The New York Times with 55 million followers of the blue check mark. The publication refused to pay $8 per month for verification on principle.
CNN and LA Times are going to do the same.
The New York Times was one of the first major news outlets to publicly refuse to pay for a blue tick on Twitter, criticizing Musk's initiative.
Musk, who has recently been actively promoting an account verification service for $8 per month, responded to the NYT's decision to abandon the blue checkmark by calling its materials propaganda and its Twitter feed "diarrhea."
"It's unreadable. They would have a lot more real followers if they only published their best articles," Musk wrote on Twitter.
Previously, Twitter account verification was free. Many people were outraged by Musk's decision to charge a monthly fee. Many media outlets, celebrities, and companies have decided to abandon the blue check mark.
Musk's conflict with the NYT began last year. In October, the businessman said that the newspaper had become a "chaotic actor" in geopolitics and that its reports could cause large-scale problems. At the same time, he reposted a Daily Wire article in which the NYT was accused of praising Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Kim Jong-un's sister.
This was Musk's response to an article in which the NYT accused him of interfering in global politics, in particular because of his strange proposals for a possible solution to Russia's war against Ukraine and his "close" ties with China.
Background. As a reminder, Musk has limited Starlink's functions for Ukraine, which has resulted in a sharp decline in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' ability to conduct drone attacks.
