Ukraine has prepared a group of 40 thousand people for counteroffensive

The Ukrainian army has trained eight units totaling 40,000 people for an offensive on the territories seized by Russia.

According to the agency, the units consist of motivated volunteers recruited as part of an "aggressive campaign" to recruit fighters on social media and billboards in Ukraine.
Ukraine launched the recruitment campaign in early February.
Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko told Reuters that the recruits included former military and police officers as well as people without combat experience, including women.
According to him, former military personnel can be trained in two months, and people without experience in four months. Klymenko also claims that Ukraine still has a mobilization potential.
The units that are recruiting are called Azov, Steel Frontier, Hurricane, Spartan, Chervona Kalyna, Rubizh, Lyuty and Kara Dag. They are under the control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The "Steel Frontier" is commanded by Valeriy Paditel, who headed the Ukrainian border forces that participated in the defense of Mariupol last spring. Paditel was taken prisoner after Russia seized the Azovstal plant and was released as part of a prisoner exchange last September.
At the same time, Padilnyk notes that he does not know when and where Ukraine's counteroffensive will begin.
Reuters writes that Kyiv plans to use recruited volunteers in the counteroffensive, which should begin in the coming weeks or months.
