Ukrainian military will be able to train on F-16 fighters under a shortened program
But preparations for the F-16 transfer will still take time - infrastructure and procedural issues

Ukrainian pilots will have a shorter training period on F-16 fighter jets compared to standard pilot training programs.
Source. This was announced by the Chief of Aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Serhiy Holubtsov on Thursday, April 6.
"Two pilots have successfully passed the test in the United States. The assessment was very high. And at the end of the test report, there is such a short period of time that the retraining program for Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16 aircraft may be shortened," he said.
The general did not specify how much the timeframe would be reduced, but emphasized that it would be significant.
According to Golubtsov, F-16s can also be received on an accelerated basis, but this cannot happen before the deadline for training personnel and infrastructure for their operation has passed.
He added, commenting on the words of Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin about the need for 18 months to deliver the aircraft, that preparations for the transfer of F-16s require some time – infrastructure preparation and procedural issues.
"For example, for the United States, it takes up to four months to review bids. If this is to be circumvented, it must be done at the level of legislative bodies," explained Holubtsov.
The brigadier general emphasized that Ukraine's receipt of anti-aircraft missile systems and tanks showed that this procedure can be significantly accelerated.
Background. As a reminder, the President of Poland said that his country is ready to transfer several more MiG-29s to Ukraine.
