Poland announces suspension of imports of Ukrainian grain at least until July
The products should not harm Polish farmers and cause a food security crisis, a Polish official believes

Imports of Ukrainian grain to Poland have been suspended "at least until July".
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland Janusz Kowalski on TVP Info, Ukrinform reports.
"The EU has done nothing to help Polish farmers, and the effectiveness of the actions of the new Minister Robert Telus in the first hours after his appointment, with the support of both the Prime Minister and the President, which was also the result of negotiations with President Zelensky, showed that we are able to negotiate with Ukraine and temporarily suspend imports at least until July," Mr. Kowalski said.
The deputy minister said that the Polish-Ukrainian agreement on grain "is only the first step". According to Mr. Kowalski, his coalition party, United Poland, firmly defends the position that "all agricultural products from Ukraine should be subject to a duty".
"We help Ukraine, but we have to be a transit country. All products should be shipped through Poland, they should not harm Polish farmers, Polish producers and cause a food security crisis," Mr. Kowalski stated.
He also informed that on Tuesday, 11 April, Polish Minister Telus would meet at the border with representatives of agricultural organisations from five other countries.
Previously. Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria demanded that the European Commission reintroduce duties on Ukrainian food products. Farmers in these countries were upset that companies had been buying cheaper products from Ukraine instead of buying from their own producers.
