Britain will provide loan guarantees for Ukraine worth $500 million
They will help finance Ukrainian government programs, including schools and hospitals

The United Kingdom is ready to provide additional loan guarantees to Ukraine for $500 million, bringing the total amount this year to $1 billion.
Source. This was stated by the Minister of Finance Jeremy Hunt, BBC reports.
According to him, the British loan guarantees are important for financing the four-year $15.6 billion loan program of the International Monetary Fund to Ukraine, approved by the IMF Board of Directors on April 1.
"The funding will increase Ukraine's economic resilience and strengthen its resistance to Russia," Hunt said in a statement.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, the United Kingdom has pledged support for Ukraine totaling 6.5 billion pounds ($8.1 billion).
The latest loan guarantees will help finance Ukrainian government programs, including schools and hospitals.
Background. As a reminder, the UK has imposed sanctions against the wife of Putin's godfather Medvedchuk, Oksana Marchenko, as well as against relatives of Russian oligarchs Suleiman Kerimov, Andrei Skoch and Vladimir Yevtushenkov.
