The national team of Ukraine will continue its official performances in the European Championship 2024 qualifiers, despite the participation of the Belarusian national team.
This was announced by Andriy Pavelko, President of the Ukrainian Football Association.
He thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for its prompt response and clear explanation of the situation:
"Taking into account the decision of the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) of 27 May 2022 on the separation of Ukrainian and Belarusian football teams in the draw of international competitions under the auspices of the organisation, implementing paragraph 5 of the above order, the structural units of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, whose responsibilities include coordinating the development of football in the country, will monitor the participation of Ukrainian teams in international competitions in which Belarusian teams will also take part," Pavelko said, citing a letter from the ministry.
It is noted that in the event that facts of possible face-to-face meetings between Ukrainian and Belarusian football teams are revealed, the requirements of paragraph 1 of the aforementioned order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports should be used to resolve issues related to further participation in the competition.
According to the president of the Ukrainian Football Association, a working group of representatives of the national team will travel to Germany tomorrow to inspect the venue for the team's training camp in June.
Pavelko added that there were also no obstacles to the Ukrainian youth team's participation in Euro 2023.
