Ukraine to receive around 20 demining machines from Swiss company
The relevant memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Ministry of Reintegration and Swiss GCS
Swiss company Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) plans to deliver around 20 demining machines to Ukraine during 2023 for the clearance of de-occupied territories.
This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
A corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Ministry of Reintegration and the Swiss GCS, a manufacturer of mechanised demining equipment.
"The result of the cooperation should be the involvement of the company's demining machines. The machines will be used to clear agricultural lands and critical infrastructure objects in the de-occupied areas of Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts from mines and unexploded ordnance," the statement said.
In addition, the parties agreed to cooperate in the field of technical and non-technical inspection of explosive hazards on territories, as well as to inform the population of liberated areas about the risks associated with mines and unexploded ammunition.
Background. As a reminder, 10% of agricultural land in Ukraine is contaminated with mines.
