On Friday, Twitter owner Elon Musk announced that Linda Yaccarino, who previously served as the head of advertising at the American media corporation NBCUniversal, has become the company's new CEO.
"I'm delighted to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter," Musk tweeted.
He added that Yakkarino will focus mainly on business processes, while he will focus on "product design and new technologies."
For this position, she left her position as head of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal. Yaccarino has worked at NBCUniversal for over 11 years.
Prior to that, she was executive vice president and chief operating officer of advertising at Turner Broadcasting, which at the time included CNN.
Iaccarino has a long history in media and media operations, and her team at NBCUniversal has generated nearly $100 billion in revenue since she joined in 2011.
Recently, Musk and Iaccarino appeared together at a conference in Miami, where they gave a keynote speech titled "Twitter 2.3: From Conversations to Partnerships."
Musk bought the microblogging service for $44 billion last year. Announced in April, the deal was closed only at the end of October after long deliberations between the parties.
Earlier, Elon Musk announced that he was stepping down as CEO of the social network. He had been leading the company since its purchase in October last year.
