"Our troops are gradually advancing": Hanna Maliar on the situation in Bakhmut
Zelensky answered a question about the time of the counteroffensive: "You will see it, and russia will feel it"

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said that Ukrainian troops continue to advance in the suburbs of Bakhmut, where the Armed Forces recently launched a counteroffensive and regained control of several kilometers of territory.
"The situation in the Bakhmut direction is developing dynamically," Maliar wrote in her telegram channel.
"Our troops are gradually advancing in two directions in the suburbs of Bakhmut. There will be no specific figures now, because active hostilities are underway," the deputy minister emphasized. "Our troops are destroying the enemy and have already taken many prisoners.
She added that in Bakhmut itself "the situation is more complicated," but "the enemy is not able to take control of the city."
The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevheniy Prygozhyn, whose units are trying to take Bakhmut, recently said that Ukrainian forces have managed to regain control of part of the territory on the flanks near the city. This is important, among other things, because the liberation of the flanks makes it easier to deliver Ukrainian reinforcements and ammunition to Bakhmut.
According to Pryhozhyn, it was not the Wagnerites who were operating on the flanks near Bakhmut, but units of the regular russian army, which, according to the head of the Wagner PMC, fled the battlefield.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not answer the question about the timing of the counteroffensive, noting that "the first steps will be soon."
"We are preparing very seriously. I know that everyone is motivated. But unfortunately, I can't answer the question about the timing, but you will definitely see it, and russia will definitely feel it," he said in an interview with Italian media on Saturday.
"We are definitely preparing and will continue to do so. We believe that the first important steps will come soon," he said.
Background. As a reminder, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that the risk of encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut has passed.
