"The decisions are practically made": Podolyak comments on the possibility of providing Ukraine with F-16s

Ukraine will receive American F-16 fighters from its partners. Decisions have already been made.

Source. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, in an interview with Channel 24.

"There are two issues left that are being discussed very intensively, just like on the eve of the tank coalition. These are almost finalized decisions. I want you to be aware of this – the countries have made their decisions. They are already aware that we will receive all these weapons, including F-16s," Podolyak said.

At the same time, he said, the partners are currently discussing technical issues, how to logically launch the process of transferring the aircraft to Ukraine.

Podolyak explained that Ukraine will eventually receive the weapons it needs to win. He reminded that this is how the tank coalition was formed, and the UK has already handed over long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

"This is practically an "open floodgates" so that the missiles have a range of not only 290 km, but also 500 km. France will do the same," Podoliak said.

"You know, everything will be in full. Including long-range missiles and the aviation component. And it will be quite fast. The only thing that upsets me is the slowness inherent in the Euro-Atlantic space in terms of making a collective decision.

They have built the system in such a way that it takes dozens of times of public and non-public discussions, certain inputs, and then it all comes to the point where there is no other solution than to hand it over to Ukraine. Six months ago, we talked about the tank coalition. There was a license agreement signed by the Germans. Today, we are already discussing logistical issues – it is no longer a matter of discussion, but a matter of logistics," commented the advisor to the head of the OP.

Background. The day before, US President Biden said that the Americans would join the training of Ukrainians on F-16s, but the training would most likely be conducted exclusively in Europe. At the same time, the Americans will not deny that other countries have transferred their F-16s to Ukraine.
