The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has apprehended an enemy agent who was betraying the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut and Avdiivka.
This is reported by the press service of the SBU.
The individual surveyed the vicinity of frontline cities and surreptitiously photographed defenders' positions, as well as marking their coordinates on electronic maps. The spy passed the information to a 'supervisor' from the 'Ministry of State Security of the DPR' controlled by the aggressor, in temporarily occupied Horlivka.
Law enforcement assert that the russians planned to use the information about the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for carrying out missile and artillery strikes.
It is noted that the suspect was in hiding at the time of apprehension. During searches at his residence, SBU employees found a phone concealed in a wall with evidence of covert correspondence with the enemy.
Now, the 32-year-old resident of Toretsk is being charged with treason. The court has chosen detention as a preventive measure.
