Ukrenergo has initiated an investigation into the causes of widespread power outages

Ukrenergo has initiated an investigation due to widespread emergency power outages in Ukraine.
The company's press service reports this.
According to preliminary data, around 1:00 p.m., several main high-voltage lines were disconnected in Ukraine due to an emergency. As a result, the automatic system was triggered, and power was cut off to consumers in several oblasts.
The restoration of power to consumers is currently underway. Supplies are expected to be restored within the next few hours.
"The investigation into the causes of the incident has begun. We emphasise separately that the outages occurred due to technical reasons and are not associated with a power deficit in the energy system," the report says.
Background. Power outages are occurring across Ukraine due to the triggering of automation on energy infrastructure. This was caused by a decrease in frequency in Ukraine's unified energy system.
Recently, the overall lack of power capacity of Ukrainian power plants led to Ukrenergo having to take emergency assistance from Romania during peak evening load hours.
