DPRK launches a ballistic missile, but it disintegrates in the air

North Korea has launched a ballistic missile that was supposed to deliver the first North Korean satellite into orbit. The state-run KCNA reported that the first stage separated normally, but then the engine malfunctioned and the rocket crashed into the sea.

Source. This was reported by CNN.

The agency clarified that after investigating the incident, a new attempt will be made to launch the satellite.

Representatives of the South Korean army confirmed that the missile disappeared from the radar shortly after launch and collapsed in midair, and its wreckage fell into the Yellow Sea west of the Korean Peninsula.

The military fished out the wreckage, which was probably left over from the missile, and later published a photo of a barrel-shaped metal object with tubes and wires inside.

After the missile was launched, air raid sirens sounded in Seoul, and residents received evacuation notices on their cell phones. However, later, residents of the capital received a message that the text messages were sent by mistake.

Earlier, the DPRK warned that it would launch a satellite with reconnaissance purposes between May 31 and June 11. Japan's Defense Ministry threatened to shoot down any missile that appears in the country's airspace.

Background. As a reminder, South Korea has secretly provided Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of missiles, although Seoul does not publicly recognize this.
