WP: White House is no longer afraid of "red lines" and provides Ukraine with new types of weapons
Biden administration realizes that Kremlin's threats are fake

The U.S. State Department makes decisions about supplying Ukraine with certain weapons, while assessing the reaction from Russia. And since the Kremlin has not fulfilled any of its threats, the United States has moved on to providing Ukraine with more long-range weapons.
Source. This was reported by the Washington Post with reference to its source.
According to the source, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is assessing the risks of escalation on the part of Russia.
According to the source, several factors are taken into account in the decision-making process:
- the need for a certain type of weapon for Ukraine,
- whether the Ukrainian Armed Forces can use it,
- whether the US side can provide it
- and what Russia's response to such actions by the United States might be.
In addition to Blinken, White House National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan is actively involved in this process.
At the same time, the US presidential administration is under strong pressure from hawks in Congress, who are dissatisfied with this approach and are calling for Ukraine to be provided with all the weapons it needs as soon as possible.
At the outbreak of the war in February 2022, Russian dictator Putin promised an "immediate" response to any country that "tries to prevent" Russia.
The Kremlin dwarf promised that this response would lead to "consequences that you have never faced in your history."
WP quotes Maxim Samorukov, an expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, who says that Russia has devalued any "red lines" by not following through on its threats.
Each time before providing Ukraine with a new type of weapon, Washington and other allies have usually stated that the transfer of weapons to Ukraine is out of the question. Such statements were made about heavy Western tanks and F-16 fighter jets shortly before the announcement of their delivery.
Background. As a reminder, Biden said that the issue of providing Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles is under consideration.
