The coalition of countries to provide fighter jets for Ukraine includes eight countries - and this number may increase

The so-called "coalition of fighter jets" for Ukraine has been formed, and as of today, it includes eight countries, but their number may increase over time.

Source. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

Ihor Zhovkva noted that following the trip of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the European summit in Moldova, it was possible to outline the contours of the "coalition of fighters" and take real steps to accelerate the training of pilots and technicians for fighters, "including, but not limited to, the F-16."

"The basis of the European part of the Coalition has been formed with the participation of eight countries (soon to be more): Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal and France. A separate joint statement on this issue was even adopted with the President of France," said Ihor Zhovkva.

According to the representative of the OP, the agreements reached allow us to count on specific decisions on the scope and mechanism of training pilots and maintenance personnel, as well as the creation of conditions and appropriate infrastructure for fighter jets during the next meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format).

Background. As reported, at the summit in Moldova, Zelensky received signals of allied support for fighter jets.

Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister's Office issued a statement following Rishi Sunak's meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Moldova, which suggests that Britain will begin training Ukrainian pilots in the coming weeks.

Since the British Royal Air Force does not have its own F-16s, and the EuroFighter aircraft it has are not quite suitable for this purpose, it is likely that London will play an organizational and financial role in training Ukrainian pilots.

Meanwhile, it has become known that Poland and the Netherlands have joined the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.
