The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has issued recommendations on actions in case of russians' explosion of ZNPP and radiation threat

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine today published recommendations in the event of a radiation accident. The preamble to the document indicates the possibility of a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, as previously warned by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"The terrorist country – the russian federation – does not comply with any laws and rules of warfare. The explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is another confirmation of these words. The risk that the russians will commit another terrorist attack at Zaporizhzhya NPP remains high," the ministry said.

In the event of a radiation accident, the Ministry of Health advises to stay in shelters, take off contaminated clothing and pack it in airtight packaging, wash the surface of the body thoroughly, and eat only food that has been stored in the refrigerator or in airtight packaging.

"It is possible to protect yourself only if you follow three basic rules: stay in a shelter, follow official information and follow the instructions of the authorities.

Potassium iodide should be taken only if you have received such instructions from the authorities or the State Emergency Service. Do not take potassium iodide ahead of time if you do not need it. It can harm your health," the Ministry emphasized.

Background. As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky warned that, according to intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine, russia was considering a scenario of a terrorist attack at Zaporizhzhia NPP. It could be carried out with a radiation release.

The Ministry of Health, for its part, urged not to panic and not to use potassium iodide "for prevention."
