The US Senate has introduced a draft resolution that would equate Russia's use of nuclear weapons with an attack on NATO countries
The same would apply to the explosion of a nuclear power plant

Any use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine (by Russia or Belarus) or a strike on a nuclear facility with a radiation release will inevitably pose a direct threat to neighboring NATO member states. Therefore, such actions should be classified as an attack on the Alliance itself.
The draft resolution was presented the day before in Washington by high-ranking officials from both major parties: Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal, according to news agencies.
"The threat of Russia using nuclear weapons is real. And the best way to deter this threat is to make it clear to Putin's Russia what the consequences of its use will be," Lindsey Graham said at the presentation.
However, the content of the resolution presented – even if it is approved by both parties – will remain largely symbolic, as the document proposed by the senators is advisory in nature.
As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky warned that, according to intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine, Russia is considering a scenario of a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. It could be carried out with a radiation release.
