Denmark says it has already started training Ukrainian pilots on F-16

Denmark has already started training Ukrainians to fly American F-16 fighters. Acting Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen told the local press on Monday.

Source. This was reported by the AP agency.

According to the AP, Lund Poulsen told the DR media company that the training of Ukrainian pilots will take six to eight months, after which Denmark will be able to transfer its F-16s to Ukraine.

At the same time, Denmark has decided to speed up the transition of its air force to the most modern F-35s: initially, the transition was planned for 2027, but now its completion has been pushed back to the end of 2025.

As recently as 12 days ago, Troels Lund Poulsen said that training for Ukrainian pilots would begin, possibly in August.

Denmark, according to publicly available data, has 30 F-16 fighters in service.

Background. As reported, the coalition of countries to provide fighter jets to Ukraine includes eight countries – and this number may grow.
