"Yes, indeed, he is in Belarus today. As I promised, if you want to stay with us for a while, we will help you. Of course, at their expense," Lukashenko said.
The private plane, which is linked to the founder of the Wagner PMC, landed at the Machulishchi military airfield near Minsk, the Belarusian monitoring project Belaruski Gaius reported earlier.
On Saturday night, when an agreement was reached between the Wagner PMC and the Kremlin to end the rebellion through the mediation of Alexander Lukashenko, it was reported that Prigozhin would go to Belarus.
The day before, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that PMC mercenaries who do not want to sign a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry and continue their military service may also go there.
The day before, some Russian media outlets reported that camps were being built in Belarus to resettle Wagner PMC fighters, allegedly for 8,000 people.
However, Ukraine has not confirmed this information. Currently, there is no evidence of the deployment of field camps for Wagner fighters, said Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the Ukrainian Border Guard Service.
"As for the information about the possible construction of bases for Russian mercenaries in Belarus, we do not record such works at the moment. At the same time, we cannot rule it out. The situation in Belarus is being actively monitored by intelligence, including the State Border Guard Service," he said.
