The "rebel" Prigozhin was returned 13 billion rubles seized from his companies during the search

The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who, together with his mercenaries, staged a "riot" on June 24, has been returned 10 billion rubles found during a search in St. Petersburg.

According to the St. Petersburg-based Fontanka, Prigozhin's driver came to collect the money with an official power of attorney.

However, the newspaper notes that as early as July 2, the investigation did not plan to return the money found during the searches to Prigozhin.

During Prigozhin's mutiny on June 24, Fontanka published photos with gold bars, wads of money and fake passports of Prigozhin under other names that security forces found during a search of the Trezini Hotel in St. Petersburg, which is believed to be the office of the Wagner PMC.

Prigozhin himself confirmed that the money found belonged to the PMC. According to him, the money was intended to pay salaries, "the so-called compensation for Cargo 200 and other issues."

Background. As it turned out, Prigozhin and his companies received a total of $16 billion in funding from the Russian budget. Now the Russian authorities are terminating contracts with his business structures.
