Two years ago, in July 2021, the land market was launched in Ukraine. As a result of these two years, 85.2 thsd land transactions were concluded covering 275.1 thsd ha (about 1% of all agricultural land), with the average cost of 1 ha of land under sale and purchase agreements amounting to UAH 39.2 thsd.

This was stated by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.

In the first half of 2023, 18.2 thsd land transactions covering an area of almost 50.7 thsd ha were concluded.

"The top 3 regions in terms of the number of transactions were Khmelnytsky, Sumy and Vinnytsia oblasts (they were also in the lead in 2022)," said Hetmantsev.

He noted that the opportunity to acquire and change land ownership, along with government support programmes, has also stimulated the development of horticulture.

"A year ago, in July 2022, we launched the eRobota programme, under which one of the areas of support was the issuance of grants for the planting of gardens (up to UAH 400 thsd per ha). Prior to the launch of this programme, an average of 1,100 ha of gardens were planted per year, and 2,500 ha were planted in the period from 1 July 2022 to 1 July 2023," the head of the committee concluded.
