russia announced that russian athletes would not participate in the Olympics under conditions of neutrality
Subsequently, russia intends to challenge in court the "sanctions against russian sport"

russian athletes will not participate in the Olympic Games under the conditions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which has banned them from using the national flag and anthem due to the war in Ukraine.
Source. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of russia, Dmitry Chernyshenko, moscowtimes.eu reports.
"If it requires renouncing one's homeland, of course, it does not suit us. Therefore, we disagree with the humiliations invented by the Anglo-Saxons – to perform under a neutral flag and without an anthem, and now it is being added that you must publicly condemn the decision to carry out a special military operation," he said.
Chernyshenko noted that he did not yet see the point in challenging the sanctions against russian sport in court, but later there would be a lawsuit, and the russian government was allegedly gathering the necessary documentation for it.
Meanwhile, russians have already had to participate in the Olympics under a neutral flag after the doping scandal associated with the Olympic Games in Sochi.
It was reported earlier that russian and Belarusian athletes may be required to make a public statement condemning the russian invasion of Ukraine.
However, the President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), Francesco Ricci Bitti, clarified that russians would not be forced to condemn in writing the invasion of Ukraine – they would only be obliged to meet the criteria of neutrality. "They will not be asked to state that they are against the war – in russia, it is punishable by criminal case," explained Bitti.
Earlier, the IOC announced that the National Olympic Committees of russia and Belarus would not receive an invitation to the 2024 Olympics.
The IOC explained that previous recommendations of the Committee were intended for international federations and competition organizers, but do not apply to the Olympics in Paris. They added that the final decision on the participation of russians and Belarusians in the Games will be made later.
Background. Recall, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) supported the resolution on the non-admission of russian and Belarusian athletes to the Olympic Games.
