Akmetov's DTEK counts on state loans for restoration of destroyed capacities
At least 7 billion UAH is needed for the restoration of thermal generation

DTEK Energy is counting on receiving government loans for the restoration of capacities destroyed during missile attacks.
This was announced by the company's CEO, Ildar Saleyev.
"Due to damage from attacks, 1.4 GW of DTEK's thermal generation capacities were unavailable by the end of the previous autumn-winter period. At least 7 billion UAH is needed for their restoration. Given the war situation, the volumes are colossal, so we are primarily counting on a credit programme from the government to cover such a huge sum," said Saleyev.
In the first half of 2023, the company invested 1.5 billion UAH in scheduled repairs and plans to increase investment to 3.5 billion UAH by the end of the year.
"From March to June this year, DTEK Energy's power engineers carried out seven power unit repairs at thermal power plants. The same number is currently in progress. These are planned repairs, as the station's equipment worked intensively during the last heating season and must be ready for the same workload next winter," Saleyev noted.
During the current repair campaign, DTEK Energy plans to repair 27 power units.
This year, the Ukrainian energy system will enter the heating season with significantly less power reserves than last year.
"Our task is to restore as much capacity as possible before the start of the heating season, and to continue restoring equipment during its course," he summarised.
Meanwhile, according to Saleyev, the company's power plants have been supplying the energy system with an average of 20-30% more electricity over the past two months than in May-June 2022, generating almost 7 billion kWh of electricity into the Ukrainian energy system in the first half of the year.
