UN: agreement with russia on exports of russian grain and fertilizers also terminated
Guterres sent a letter to putin with a new proposal to preserve the grain deal

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he deeply regrets russia's decision to withdraw from the Black Sea grain deal, in particular the withdrawal of russian guarantees of safety of navigation in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
"Today's decision by the russian federation will hit needy people everywhere... Hundreds of millions of people face hunger and consumers face a global cost of living crisis. They will pay for it," the UN Secretary-General said.
The suspension of the agreement means that the corresponding pact between the UN and moscow, designed to facilitate the export of russian grain and fertilizers, has also been terminated, Guterres added.
He emphasized that one of the goals of the UN is to ensure global food security and stability of world food prices.
Guterres has sent a letter to russian President vladimir putin with a new proposal to preserve the grain agreement. His representative tweeted about it.
Background. To recap, Zelensky said that there were no direct agreements between Ukraine and russia on the grain corridor.
