NACP adds port operator DP World to the list of international war sponsors
The company signed an agreement with Rosatom for the development of the Northern Sea Route
The NACP has added one of the world's largest port operators, DP World (Dubai Port World), to the list of international war sponsors.
This was announced by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.
The Agency explained that the reason for this decision is that the company from the UAE not only continues to do business with russia, but is strengthening its cooperation with the aggressor. In particular, last month DP World signed an agreement with the russian state corporation Rosatom for the development of the Northern Sea Route.
The length of the Northern Sea Route will be over 5,600 km, from Murmansk to Vladivostok along the coast of the seas and the Arctic and Pacific Oceans.
The strategic cooperation of the companies will facilitate the transit of goods to russia bypassing sanctions, given that Rosatom systematically provides services to the russian defence industry, importing banned components for russian tanks and aviation. In addition, other illegal goods and weapons may be transported via the Northern Sea Route.
Background. DP World specialises in cargo logistics, port terminal operations, marine services, and free trade zones. It handles 70 million containers, which are brought in by approximately 70,000 ships annually, and operates in over 69 countries on all continents.
In Ukraine, DP World has owned 51% of the TIS container terminal in the Southern port since 2020. As a result, the company has comprehensive information about the state of marine transport in Ukraine due to russian aggression. DP World also handles the transshipment of Ukrainian grain as part of the "grain corridor" operations.
