Syrskyi: "All conditions are now in place to retake Bakhmut"
The city is currently in semi-encirclement

"All conditions are now in place to retake Bakhmut," said the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Syrskyi, in an interview with the BBC.
"The current positioning of the russian troops is reminiscent of a semi-circle, concentrated in Bakhmut. They are in semi-encirclement. Well, it is simply impossible not to take advantage of this," explained the commander.
Syrskyi added, despite the views of Western commentators, Bakhmut was a strategically important city. Roads from Debaltseve, Sieversk, Horlivka, Kostiantynivka, and Slovyansk pass through it. In this way, russian troops could advance on at least three operational fronts.
"In addition, the area around Bakhmut is a concentration of various dominant heights, which allows control over a large part of the area around the approaches to Bakhmut. This increases its role as a springboard for further offensive actions," the lieutenant general clarified.
Syrskyi believes that the commanders of the Wagner PMC made a mistake when directing all their main forces into Bakhmut, as the group "suffered heavy losses in personnel and has practically lost combat capability."
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Ukrainian troops were fighting near Kurdiumivka in the Bakhmut direction. Meanwhile, the occupiers are trying to regain lost positions near Pryyutne on the southern front.
