"I can say that today the Polish Army has 172 thousand soldiers. I am talking here about all employees – professional and territorial defense. Our goal is for the Polish Army to have at least 300 thousand soldiers. We are consistently realizing this goal," he said.
It is planned that the number of divisions in the Polish army will increase from 4 to 6, and defense spending will increase to 4% of GDP.
As reported by Reuters, on July 19, Poland decided to redeploy its troops to the eastern border after mercenary camps of the Wagner PMC appeared in Belarus.
"Undoubtedly, if there is a serious incident involving the Wagner group on the borders of NATO and EU countries, such as Poland, Lithuania or Latvia, we will undoubtedly start joint actions," Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński said at the time.
