Poland will almost double the size of its armed forces amid russia's war of aggression in Ukraine. The relevant document has already been signed.

Source. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the country Mariusz Błaszczak, Polish Radio reports.

"I can say that today the Polish Army has 172 thousand soldiers. I am talking here about all employees – professional and territorial defense. Our goal is for the Polish Army to have at least 300 thousand soldiers. We are consistently realizing this goal," he said.

It is planned that the number of divisions in the Polish army will increase from 4 to 6, and defense spending will increase to 4% of GDP.

As reported by Reuters, on July 19, Poland decided to redeploy its troops to the eastern border after mercenary camps of the Wagner PMC appeared in Belarus.

"Undoubtedly, if there is a serious incident involving the Wagner group on the borders of NATO and EU countries, such as Poland, Lithuania or Latvia, we will undoubtedly start joint actions," Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński said at the time.

Background. As reported, on July 23, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with russian dictator vladimir putin, said that the Wagnerites stationed in Belarus were allegedly rushing to Warsaw to get even for the supply of weapons from Poland to Ukraine, and it was difficult for him to dissuade them from these intentions. These words caused acute concern in the neighboring countries.

As a reminder, the State Department reacted to Lukashenko's words about the Wagner Group's intentions to target Poland.
