Saudi Arabia is to conduct peaceful negotiations concerning Ukraine without russia's participation
Ukraine and the West hope that the result of these talks will culminate in a peace summit by the end of the year
Saudi Arabia plans to hold peace talks regarding Ukraine next month.
This was reported by France24.
"At the start of next month, Saudi Arabia intends to conduct negotiations about Ukraine involving Western nations, Ukraine, and key developing countries, specifically India and Brazil," according to the statement.
The summit is set to take place on 5-6 August in Jeddah.
Ukrainian and Western officials hope that these talks will lead to a peace summit by the end of the year. It is expected that a document with general principles for resolving the war in Ukraine will be signed at the summit, which will then pave the way for future peace talks with russia.
russia will not be participating in the summit this year.
