NSDC Secretary confirms SBU involvement in both attacks on Crimean bridge
Danilov also indirectly acknowledged Ukraine's involvement in recent drone strikes on several targets in Moscow
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, has confirmed that Ukrainian special services were involved in the attacks on the Crimean Bridge that took place in mid-July 2023 and last October.
Danilov was responding to a question from a journalist of the Rada TV channel, who asked him how Ukraine could confirm its statements that it would consider any vessels sailing to Russian Black Sea ports as military targets.
"We periodically not only confirm it, but also loudly confirm it with our actions," Danilov said.
"Our military is putting in place the inviolability of many objects that were considered 100% protected in Russia. This includes the Crimean bridge, which was discussed by representatives of our Security Service, who participated in both the first and second cases," the NSDC Secretary said.
Danilov also indirectly acknowledged Ukraine's involvement in recent attacks in Russia, including drone strikes on several targets in Moscow.
"This is also evidenced by the situation that the president spoke about, that the war will return to the territory of Russia," the NSDC Secretary continued. "And if you have seen certain events that periodically take place directly in Moscow, keep in mind that Russian partisans, let's call them that, are working perfectly on the territory of the Russian Federation."
The first explosion on the Kerch Bridge occurred on October 8, 2022, when a truck with a trailer collapsed three spans of the road bridge and severely damaged the railroad bridge.
On July 17, the Kerch Bridge was attacked again – according to the Russian authorities, it was done with the help of marine drones. Two spans of the road bridge were damaged.
On July 30, Volodymyr Zelenskyy indirectly commented on the attacks on facilities in Russia in his daily address.
"Ukraine is getting stronger. Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia, to its symbolic centers and military bases. And this is an inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process," the President of Ukraine said.
