China is ready to cooperate with the international community to continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political solution to the "crisis" in Ukraine, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Last week, it was reported that a summit on the peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine was being prepared to be held in Saudi Arabia on 5-6 August.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the summit in Jeddah will be attended by representatives of Ukraine, Western countries and developing countries.

Saudi Arabia was chosen as the venue for the summit precisely with the expectation of attracting China to the negotiations, Western diplomats cited by the WSJ journalists pointed out.
The Wall Street Journal also noted that a meeting of high-ranking officials from countries that could participate in the Jeddah summit was held in Copenhagen in late June, and it was attended by representatives of Ukraine, several large European countries, as well as Brazil, India, Turkey, and South Africa.
"What China is doing is important. Most participants regretted that China did not participate last time," a Politico source said of the event.
